Kyrgyzstan, News, Serve Now Spotlight

Mobile Medical Trailer in Kyrgyzstan

The medical trailer staff  from a previous mission in Kyrgyzstan treated this pregnant woman who was in her 36th week of pregnancy and hadn’t been to a doctor before coming to the medical trailer.

The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod recently posted a blog story about the need for volunteers for several Medical Mercy Teams (MMT) in the coming summer and fall of 2014. One of the Mercy Medical Teams will be serving in the Eurasia Region in Kyrgyzstan. MMTs need doctors, nurses, physical therapists, and non-medical professional volunteers. Anyone can serve! The team in Kyrgyzstan will be an educational team. They will help to train local health professionals with further education and new techniques, teach about good health habits to residents and emphasize the need for preventative care. You can find out more details about all the different MMTs planned for this year here.

If you would like to learn more about a past MMT in Kyrgyzstan, you can see a video here and read this article from the Eurasia Blog. This is a great way to reach lives with the Gospel of Jesus Christ in both physical mercy and witness!

  • If you are interested in serving, you can send an email to mercyteams@lcms.org or call Tracy Quaethem at 800-248-1930, ext. 1711.
  • Please pray for the MMTs and volunteers. Pray that the Lord would provide enough volunteers for this important work!
