The English-speaking congregation of St. Anne’s Lutheran Church in St. Petersburg used their talents to share Christ with others in a pre-Christmas carol service held at St. Mary’s. Missionary Alyssa Anders along with Reverend Camp organized the musicians in their congregation to play and sing familiar Christmas carols at the service. Everyone was invited, including congregation members, other English speakers and Russians who wanted to practice their English.

Besides singing some of the traditional Christmas carols, they had a devotion (delivered in English and translated into Russian) about the true meaning of Christmas. The pastor reminded everyone that Christmas is more than just beautiful songs and an old story about a baby in a manger.

After the service, they were able to make some new connections and invite everyone to attend English services at St. Anne’s. This was the perfect way to use the universal love of music, especially Christmas music, to share the Word of God with others who don’t know the truth about the babe in Bethlehem.
