Rev. David Mahsman, director of special projects for LCMS Eurasia, leads worship at Stadtkirche in Wittenberg, Germany where Martin Luther preached over 2,000 sermons. This particular service was put together by Wittenberg English Ministry. This coming Sunday, Lutherans around the world will be celebrating Reformation Sunday. Monday, October 31, is Reformation Day. Lutherans celebrate the Reformation as started by Martin Luther when he nailed his 95 Theses on October 31, 1517. Lutherans will celebrate the 500th anniversary of the Reformation in 2017.

The central teaching of the Reformation often is summarized in the “solas” which is Latin for “alone”.  Drawing their doctrine from Scripture alone, the Reformers taught that we are saved by God’s grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone.
