This update was shared by the Independent Evangelical Lutheran Church (SELK) in Germany, an LCMS partner church. The LCMS works with the SELK on many projects.

The SELK Church District of Saxony-Thuringia celebrated a singing festival on 18 November in Steinbach-Hallenberg. The musically rich church service enhanced the church season according to the biblical motto “I know that my Redeemer lives.” Under the direction of a district cantor, several motets and musical pieces from old and new masters alike were heard. A regional wind instrument group and a children’s choir also performed. Pastor Helmut Neigenfind delivered the festival sermon.

The three vicars that attended the two-week PTS seminar.

“PTS (Preach to Learn and Practice)” was the motto of the two-week course of the Practical Theology Seminar of the SELK which was lead by Pastor Manfred Holst. In addition to various units on preaching content, the program included topics such as volunteering in the community, conflict resolution and social welfare. The participants were three mission and parish vicars from the SELK.
