On Pentecost Sunday, the congregation of Saints Peter and Paul Lutheran Church in Almaty, Kazakhstan, celebrated the calling to faith through the power of the Holy Spirit through Holy Baptism. Pastor Alexander Burthev baptized two people. The congregation also had 15 people confirm their baptismal faith in the rite of confirmation.
Melissa Karges, GEO missionary in Sopron, Hungary, and Sarah Berta-Somogyi, GEO missionary in Győr, Hungary, saw a need to help students get together for the purposes of recognizing their common foundation in Jesus Christ, building on that foundation through studying the Bible and prayer.
Sarah Berta-Somogyi, a Concordia, Irvine graduate and GEO missionary, has taught English at Péterfy Sándor in Győr, Hungary for more than four years. She recently planned and hosted a group of 37 students and professors from Concordia, Irvine's "Around the World Semester" in Győr for two weeks and shared this update.
