At a conference in Tbilisi, Georgia, about the Church past, present, future and how it relates to and influences current culture, LCMS pastor and former mission executive, The Rev. Dr. Robert Scudieri presented on the apostolic church. He had opportunity to converse with local Lutherans about mission in Georgia.

The Theological Institute of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Ingria in Russia (ELCIR) was revitalized and reopened in the mid 1990s after being closed in 1935 by the communists, the theological institute trains pastors and church workers. Today the school teaches multiple levels of faith and theological education.
