On Sunday, November 17, 2013, Rev. Dr. Christopher Ahlman was able to begin celebrating the German liturgy. Dr. Ahlman has been studying German in order to reach a preaching proficiency. A few months ago, Dr. Ahlman was able to memorize the distribution formula for Communion (what the Pastor says as he gives the body and the blood to parishioners), and has been assisting with distribution since then. Recently, in consultation with the pastor of St. Trinitatisgemeinde, Pastor Markus Fischer, it was decided that Dr. Ahlman was ready to begin celebrating the liturgy in German and assisting with this aspect of the services. Therefore, after practicing the German order of service for several days, Dr. Ahlman led the liturgy in German for the first time on November 17, 2013. This included Confession and Absolution, the Kyrie, the readings, leading the Apostles Creed, and chanting the Proper Preface and the Words of Institution, and more. Here is Dr. Ahlman reading the Gospel, which was the account of the sheep and the goats from Matthew 25 (the video is about five minutes long):

Dr. Ahlman is serving as Assistant Pastor for the church plant in Volkmarsdorf which St. Trinitatisgemeinde is working toward. Being able to celebrate the liturgy is one further step toward proficiency for preaching and leading Bible studies, as well as other activities.
- Please pray for Dr. Ahlman’s language learning to continue to progress.
- Pray for the members of St. Trinitatisgemeinde, that they would be strengthened in their faith as they proclaim the Gospel to wider Leipzig.
- Pray for the people of Volkmarsdorf, where the congregation is looking to move, as well as for all the people of Leipzig, that they may hear the Gospel and believe.
