Friday, August 9, the Eurasia Team began the morning by meeting together for Responsive Prayer II, led by liturgist Rev. Dr. Christopher S. Ahlman. Rev. John Fale joined the team as a representative from the International Center and preached the sermon. The readings were taken from Genesis 15 and Luke 12. The participants sang “The God of Abraham Praise” (Lutheran Service Book (LSB) 793), “Rise My Soul to Watch and Pray” (LSB 663), and “O God, Our Help in Ages Past” (LSB 733) a cappella. It was beautiful to hear everyone sing parts and raise their voices together in harmony.
The Grace Place Retreats team arrived today and met the missionaries and other personnel over dinner. They are led by Dr. John Eckrich. There was then a time of Orientation and Evening Prayer. The Grace Place Retreat will be organized around the offices of prayer found in LSB (such as Morning Prayer and Evening Prayer). In the morning, the retreat will begin with an opening worship service. Several morning sessions will be offered, including Spiritual Wellbeing and other similar sessions to teach participants how to care for their whole selves as they serve others and bring the Gospel to the lost.
Children will also be privileged to enjoy time in children’s sessions specially designed for ages 5-18.. This will be led by Joel and Rachel Symmank.
This time has already been beneficial in that the missionaries, who are spread all over the Eurasia region, have been able to meet one another, reconnect, and spend time together in fellowship. Throughout the afternoon, members of the Eurasia team were able to meet together to discuss planning, as well as had time to spend relaxing with one another and their families. Life Together is an important part of strengthening and encouraging one another in all our varied roles and areas of service.
Fear not, little flock, for it is your father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom (Luke 12:22)
