Professor Masaki during a lecture at the theological institute of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Ingria in Russia (ELCIR).
In February, a professor from Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne (CTS), Rev. Dr. Naomichi Masaki, taught a Master’s graduate course at the M.A. level at the Theological Institute of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Ingria in Russia (ELCIR). The theological institute is in Koltushi, Russia, a town about 6 miles from St. Petersburg. Masaki teaches systematics courses at CTS.
Masaki taught on the topics of Holy Communion and the Office of the Holy Ministry. Using the writings of Martin Chemnitz, which were translated into Russian by the Lutheran Heritage Foundation,
he was able to use texts with which the students were familiar. Masaki also preached at St. George’s Lutheran Church in Koltushi. Masaki was invited to Russia by ELCIR rector, Dr. Alexander Prilutsky, who himself studied at Concordia Theological Seminary in the 1990s.
