At the end of January 2014, the International Lutheran Society of Wittenberg (ILSW) met in order to discuss further plans for the reconstruction and use of the Old Latin School in Lutherstadt Wittenberg. ILSW includes The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod President Rev. Matthew C. Harrison, Rev. Michael Kumm, members of partner church body in Germany, The Selbständige Evanglisch—Lutherische Kirche (SELK), and Bruce Kintz, CEO of Concordia Publishing House (CPH). Missionary Rev. David Mahsman, who is based out of Berlin, directs The Wittenberg Project and also leads an English-language service in Berlin. The group and the reconstruction of the Old Latin school is a joint venture between the LCMS, SELK and CPH. While there, they were joined by many of the missionaries from the Eurasia Region, who were meeting for a pastor’s conference also in Wittenberg. Together, they toured the Old Latin School to see the progress. The LCMS has a wonderful photo-story by Erik M. Lunsford up here.
