Deacon Vyacheslav Shadrin marks the Day of Remembrance and Sorrow ceremony in Minusinsk
Through the LCMS’ support of Ingria Ablaze!, Deacon Vyacheslav Shadrin visited two potential religious groups in Krasnoyarsk Krai this past summer. One group was three Christian believers. The other group consisted of eight people in the village of Yermakovskoye in southern Krasnoyarsk Krai. Deacon Shadrin plans to start confirmation instruction there once a month. Deacon Shadrin serves several Evangelical Lutheran Church of Ingria in Russia (ELCIR) congregations in Siberia.
He also invited around 150 families to attend the August 28 ceremony on the Day of Remembrance and Sorrow of Russian Germans. This is an annual event in Minusinsk which is held at the monument to the victims of Stalin’s repressions and commemorates the deportation of Russian Germans from the Volga region to Siberia and Kazakhstan. Deacon Shadrin held a short prayer service during the ceremony. As a result of his invitation, there were around 25 new people in attendance this year to whom he gave catechisms and invited to the local Lutheran church.
