Benjamin Helge is a Globally Engaged in Outreach (GEO) missionary serving in the Czech Republic. During the school year, he meets once a week with students who want to further practice their English and hear more about the Gospel. Recently, they switched things up by camping for the weekend.
There’s a reason we take time to get away. We switch the routines of our meticulously planned days to spend time doing something we’re not used to doing. For my English Talk Group (ETG) here in Havířov-Šumbark, our usual Wednesday night meetings brought us to the point of needing a break, not from each other, but from our clubroom setting. The Beskydy Mountains provided our escape for the weekend as we joined together for the first ever ETG Víkendovka. Fifteen members from ETG travelled to Chatu Lipa for your standard retreat games, English speaking, campfire (with S’mores of course) and conversation. “Beyond Imagination” lent itself as the theme for the weekend by which we discussed how God is truly greater than anything we can conceive.
Sitting around the campfire Saturday night allowed for conversations moving attention to God’s grace and the forgiveness He gives to us, something so beautiful and yet so simple. I praise God for His Spirit moving in all of us and for revealing Himself to us in new ways. Through God’s working, some individuals are attending Christian camps this summer as well as beginning to read the Bible. We praise God for using ETG for His glory and His kingdom.
